Dania Jai-Alai, which sits on 50 acres just east of downtown Dania Beach on Dania Beach Boulevard, was purchased in March 2007 by Boyd Gaming, a large casino company whose properties include the Borgata in Atlantic City.

Its 220,000-square-foot facility currently houses a jai-alai fronton with seating for 5,600, a sports bar, simulcast betting facility, cardroom with poker, restaurants, banquet facilities, bars and snack bars.

In anticipation of adding slots, the fronton and city had been discussing a mixed development that included a 1,500-slot casino, a new poker room, fronton, signature restaurants and other entertainment. But in September 2007, Boyd said these plans had been put on hold in the face of disappointing results at South Florida's other racinos.

"We're studying the market, we're looking at a variety of options," a Boyd spokesperson said.

Poker games currently offered at Dania Jai-Alai include $1/$2 Seven Card Stud, Texas Hold'em and Omaha Hi/Lo all with no pot limit and exciting tournaments.
